This project embodies a new sensitivity towards the ecology, environment, and land ethics, combining the newest energy conservation technology with avant-garde design concepts.
Site environment and ecology, water recycling systems, architectural skins and mechanical energy conservation systerms are some of the many technical issues that are explored and incorporated. Integrative design attitudes include the use of various environmental physics design theories in conjunction with existing material and equipment technology, attempting to create an innovative “ecological architecture”. Due to its location on a prominent Taipei City street, the main façade uses a large glass curtain wall design to reflect the presence of a corporate headquarters building across the street. The building volume’s orientation, shape, and openings are optimized for energy conservation, hence the use of the newest building materials to achieve the initial design requirements. Apart from various advanced energy conservation technologies, an integrative design strategy is applied to correspond with the basic building requirements and environmental conditions to reduce energy consumption.
With such integrative techniques, financial value and rate of return are not the only execution guidelines of this project, providing a model for the progress of green and ecological architecture in Taiwan. |
