The site is located front row to the Keelung River bank, with good views and visibility from the expressway, which are important conditions for the establishment of this project in this location. Hence, “glass” is the most ideal material of choice to connect spaces between the inside and outside of the architecture. Glass not only allows beautiful views of the exterior into the interiors, it also allows the lit up interior to illuminate the great outdoors at night, as a guide to the city’s pedestrians passing by.

‘Taipei Gate’ has operable windows that use semi-reflective glass which filters out most of the heat from the sun. At the same time, it provides privacy to the interior spaces; ceramic spandrel glass at the girders, using it to conceal the steel beams and metal fixings, while expressing the transparency quality of the overall wall surface. In the use of glass, the most special feature is the wall on side of the center atrium in the First International Headquarters, which uses a double convex surface composed of a large curved piece of glass. The choice of curved glass significantly raised the budget, but in return the overall streamlined quality is also more ideal. This piece of curved glass wall also has the effect of stimulating the movement in the space, function wise it awaken, invigorates the overall performance of the entire building.
